Server Rules

All Servers

These rules apply everywhere we host — every vanilla server and the PVPVE server alike. Read them once; they do not change between game modes.

Then read the section for the server you are actually playing on: the group limits, the PVP rules and the raiding rules are different on vanilla and on PVPVE, and playing by the wrong set is not a defence.

I. Player Conduct & Integrity

1. Respect & Harassment

While Rust is a game of conflict, we do not tolerate hate speech. Racism, sexism, or severe toxicity toward players or staff will result in a ban. Excessive chat spamming is also prohibited and may result in sanctions.

2. Cheating

The use of third-party software (scripts, hacks, or macros) to gain an unfair advantage is strictly forbidden. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy; cheaters are permanently banned.

3. Ban Evasion

Attempting to circumvent a server or EAC ban by using alt accounts will result in an immediate permanent ban for all associated accounts.

Players with recent temporary rust bans may be removed from our servers at our discretion.

4. Stream Sniping

Stream sniping is prohibited. However, the burden of proof lies with the streamer. Streamers must use preventative measures (Streamer Mode, map overlays, and delays).

5. Advertisements

Promoting other servers, social media, or real-money services is not allowed.

II. Gameplay Integrity

6. Exploits & Glitches

Using bugs to gain an advantage is prohibited. Staff may restrict new glitches at their discretion. Currently disallowed:

  • Glitching under the map or inside foundations.
  • Building inaccessible bases (e.g., inside rock formations).
  • Large Heli exploit at Oil Rig.
  • Any exploit that provides an unfair advantage over intended mechanics.

III. Steam Accounts & Server Connections

7. Steam Profile Standards

To filter out high-risk accounts, the server automatically kicks:

  • Profiles with 2 or more VAC/Game bans.
  • Profiles with any VAC/Game ban less than 365 days old.
  • Profiles that are not set up.
  • Profiles less than 30 days old.
8. Proxy & VPN Policy

We do not whitelist VPN or Proxy use of any kind. This includes "ping enhancement" or "lag reduction" services (e.g., NoLag, ExitLag, NoPing, GearUP, WTFast, etc), which are strictly prohibited.

Exceptions: Only verified cloud gaming services are permitted. These include NVIDIA GeForce Now, Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud), Boosteroid, PlayStation Plus Premium, and Amazon Luna.

IV. Staff & Admin Policy

9. Respecting Staff

Admins are volunteers. Arguing with staff in-game is not permitted; appeals and questions must be handled via the ticket system.

10. Honesty Policy

Lying to staff, filing false reports, or intentionally misleading an investigation will result in a ban.

11. Non-Interference

Admins will not interfere with organic gameplay. This means:

  • No spawning items or returning loot.
  • No deleting misplaced walls or objects.
  • No "refunds" for items lost to bugs, server crashes or restarts.

Vanilla PVP

Our vanilla servers are Solo/Duo: vanilla rates, weekly full wipes, and PVP anywhere at any time. The whole point is that a small group can hold its own, so the group limit is the rule we enforce hardest — most bans we issue on these servers are for teaming.

These rules apply in addition to the All Servers rules above.

I. Group Limits & Teams

1. Group Size Limits

You must adhere to the specific group limit of the server you are playing on (Solo or Duo). You may not cooperate with more than the allowed number of players in any capacity (roaming, raiding, or base-sharing).

  • Trading: Item-for-item trades are encouraged. "Gift trading" (e.g., an L96 for 1 stone) to bypass the group limit is a bannable offense.
  • Diplomacy: Non-aggression pacts with neighbors are allowed to prevent camping, but you may not fight together or share resources.
2. Swapping Teammates

To replace a group member, you must:

  1. Remove all bags/beds of the departing player.
  2. Remove the Tool Cupboard (TC) authorization for the departing player.
  3. Change all door/box codes.

Note: The player leaving cannot return to the group for the remainder of the wipe.

3. Base Giveaways

Players or teams leaving the server for the duration of the wipe are permitted to give their base and loot to another player/group. However, the original owners cannot return for the remainder of the wipe. If the original owners return or continue to play with the new occupants, it will be considered a violation of the Group Size Limits rule above.

PVPVE

Our PVPVE server keeps the parts of Rust worth having — building, farming, progression, and a proper fight when you want one — without needing to be online constantly to hold onto any of it.

Most of the map is PVE. PVP is confined to defined zones, and raiding is confined to a weekend window. Rates are 2x gather and 1.5x sulfur. There are no BP wipes: the map wipes on force wipe (the first Thursday of the month) unless Facepunch forces a BP wipe with it.

The server is hosted in Chicago and all times below are US Central.

These rules apply in addition to the All Servers rules above.

I. Group Limits

1. Group Limits

Teams are limited to four players acting together at any one time.

The limit is on how many of you act as a group, not on who is on your roster. Rotating members in and out over a wipe is fine. What is not fine is fighting, raiding or defending as more than four — that is a ban, for everyone involved.

2. Trading & Cooperation

Trading with players outside your team is allowed and encouraged.

Cooperation short of fighting together — trading, sharing a road, agreeing not to shoot each other on sight — is part of the server. Once you are taking fights or raids together, you are a group, and the four-player limit applies to all of you regardless of what you call yourselves.

II. PVP Zones

3. Where PVP Is Allowed

PVP is enabled at monuments and in Deep Sea. Everywhere else on the map is PVE.

Your HUD tells you when you are flagged for PVP. You stay flagged for 15 seconds after leaving a zone, so you cannot tag someone and walk to safety. Anything that happens to you while you are flagged is fair game.

4. Boats & Deep Sea

Boats can be sunk in Deep Sea at all times, whether or not you are flagged for PVP elsewhere. Take a boat out there expecting to lose it.

5. PVE Areas

Outside the PVP zones you cannot damage other players or their property. Do not try to route around that — luring, vehicle ramming, trapping players in PVE space, or any other workaround to land damage where the server says you should not, is treated as if you had done the damage directly.

III. Raiding

6. Raid Window

Raiding player bases is allowed Saturday and Sunday, 1200–2200 US Central, and at no other time.

Outside that window, bases are not raidable. The window is the point of the server: it means you do not have to be online all week to keep what you built.

7. Raidable Bases

Raidable bases are separate from player bases and have their own rules.

  • PVP raidable bases spawn randomly around the map. Anyone may raid them, and anyone may counter you while you do — at any time, including outside the raid window.
  • PVE raidable bases are bought from /shop. Only the buyer and their team can enter. They cannot be purchased during the raid window.
